Is CFD trading halal?
No — a contract for difference delivers nothing but the price change: no ownership, built-in leverage with financing charges, and a pure zero-sum wager against the broker.
CFDs strip away the last defensible element of trading — ownership of something real. You never hold the stock, currency, or commodity; you hold a side-bet with your broker on its price, financed with overnight interest charges. Every prohibited element (riba, no possession, maysir) is present simultaneously, which is why boards that disagree elsewhere agree here.
Most retail forex is CFD-structured, and 'stock trading' on many popular international platforms is actually stock CFDs — check whether your platform conveys real shares (a shareholder statement exists) or contracts.
The compliant alternative
Real spot ownership of screened stocks through a broker that conveys actual shares.

How do I know if my platform sells real stocks or CFDs?
Look for custody disclosures: real shares appear in a securities account with a custodian and carry voting/dividend rights; CFDs are listed under 'derivatives' terms and charge overnight financing. The overnight fee is the giveaway.
